Frederique Viard, 41 years-old, is a CNRS research director. She obtained her PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Montpellier University in 1996. After a post-doc at UBC (Vancouver), she joined the CNRS in 1997. She moved to Roscoff in 2000 to study marine bio-invasions. Her research interests are focused on evolutionary and molecular ecology studies of non-native algae and invertebrates. She is leading a research team (“Diversity and Connectivity in coastal marine landscapes”) examining dispersal in marine species and their consequences at population and community level. She is currently leading workpackages in 2 European projects (“Marine Aliens and Climate Change” funded by the AXA Research Funds and INTERREG Marinexus). She supervised 12 PhDs and had been an external examiner of 17 PhDs and 5 HDRs (Professor) thesis.
