Short Description
Summary Role
Dr. François Lantoine is working in the field of phytoplankton ecology as assistant professor at the University Pierre et Marie Curie. His main researches focuse on characterisation and distribution of the different picoplanktonic populations using pigments analysis (chlorophyllous pigments and phycobiliproteins) by spectrofluorometry and cells counting by flow cytometry. He developed in collaboration with Dr. J. Neveux a spectrofluorometric method to assay easily 10 chlorophyllous pigments as chlorophyll a, b, c ; the divinyl- chl a and b, and their respective degradation pigments = pheopigments (Neveux and Lantoine 1993). Moreover this method he developed an original method to characterize and quantify the different phycobiliproteins which are the characteristic pigments of the Cyanobacteria , Rhodophyceae and Cryptophycea (Lantoine and Neveux 1997). Using this two methods associated with flow cytometry he showed evidences of large picoplanktonic diversity in various environments
