Raul Medina is Professor at the Universidad de Cantabria (1993), Doctor in Civil Engineering (UC); Proff.. Medina has been lecturing courses at different levels in the field of coastal engineering for the last 20 years and he is presently the director of the Environmental Hydraulics Institute. His research has focussed on coastal numerical modelling, beach morphodynamics, inlet dynamics, as well as on wave hydrodynamics and wave-structure interaction. He has published 15 book chapters and more than 200 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings on these subjects. Prof. Medina has been key scientist in 3 E.U. projects and has been involved in 13 more International projects. He has been also principal investigator in 20 Spanish Research projects and in more that 200 projects for the Spanish ports and coastal administration
