CCMAR is one of the main scientific institutions in marine sciences in Portugal. It has been granted the status of Associated Laboratory (a special national status based on evaluation by international panels) and is an active player internationally. CCMAR is part of the main European networks of excellence (Marine Genomics Europe, MARBEF, Euromarine), association of marine stations (MARS) and a leading partner in European infrastructure consortia (Assemble, EMBRC). With 200 collaborators, of which 100 scientists, CCMAR programmes of research and training are directed at Systematics, Biogeography, and Evolution; Plant and Algal Ecology; Microbial Ecology; Habitat Restoration; Comparative Endocrinology and Integrative Biology; Cellular and Inorganic Biochemistry; Molecular Biology of Marine Organisms; Protein biophysics; Synthesis and Organic Reactivity; Environmental Technologies; Biotechnology and Resource Management and Conservation; Aquaculture .
CCMAR will be an associate partner who will provide teaching and training in topics related to biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and conservation. It will offer courses such as Underwater Methods; Diving, and other short courses; it will provide internships (between 20 April and 30 June) valid for 12 credits. It will offer thesis subjects in areas of expertise and in cooperation with consortium partners.
