Lars Stemmann is associate Professor (Maître de Conférence HDR) at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie since 2003. He works in the Laboratory of Oceanography in Villefranche sur Mer (http://www.obs-vlfr.fr/LOV/). He leads the Radezoo service which provide quasi real time analysis of zooplankton evolution since 1966 for the laboratory long term coastal monitoring program (http://www.obs-vlfr.fr/Rade/RadeZoo/). He is an expert in using image analysis to study the pelagic ecosystem for it's long term variations or spatial patterns such as macro-plankton global biodiversity. He is also interested in the role of zooplankton in the biological pump.
